Georgi Ivanov Manev website - Brief Biography
The Bulgarian physicist Georgi Manev
(1884 - 1965) is a founder of the department of Theoretical Physics in
Sofia University. His scientific ideas found a new application in the region
of celestial mechanics (so called Manev-type field) last ten years.
Some brief biographical data concerning his life, social and scientific
activity are listed below:

born in the town of Veliko Tarnovo (Bulgaria)
1901 -
finished the Veliko Tarnovo secondary school
1905 -
graduated from the Physico-Mathematical Department of Sofia University
1905 - 1912 -
teacher in Razgrad and in the Veliko Tarnovo secondary school
1912 - 1913 -
mobilization in the Balkan and Allies wars
1913 - 1915 -
specialization in theoretical physics in Toulouse (France) to Professor
H. Bouasse
1918 -
mobilization in the First World War
1919 -
started a scientific carrier as an assistant of physics in Sofia University
(age of 35 years)
1921 -
docent of mathematical physics and mechanics
1925 -
extraordinary professor of theoretical physics
1926 - 1927 and 1930 - 1931-
dean of Physico-Mathematical Faculty of Sofia University
1935 -
ordinary professor and chair of the Department of Theoretical Physics
1936 - 1937- rector
of the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".
1938 - minister
of education in the second cabinet of the prime-minister Georgi Kyoseivanov
1944 - December
- fired from Sofia University without right to work
1947 - rehabilitated,
but not accepted in the University
15 July 1965 - deceased
in Sofia
