
Georges Ivanoff was born in the town Veliko Turnovo in
January 15, 1884 (old style).

He studied primary and secondary school with father's
expenses. Georges Ivanoff and Kiril Seizov (who became
assistant in physics later) were in real section of the male
secondary school in Veliko Turnovo together. Because of
father's death, Georges Ivanoff enroled in High school in
Sofia at his own charge. He studied "mathematical and
physical" speciality at the Faculty of physics and
mathematics. In the free time he worked as a book-
keeper in the municipality of Sofia.

Georges Ivanoff finished Sofia University and he went
in a professional examination as a teacher in mathematics
in October 1906. In the next years he teached physics and
mathematics in the secondary school in Turnovo.

After the marriage Georges Ivanoff accepted family name
Maneff officially.

Ministry of National Education gave him a government grant to
specialization in theoretical physics. Georges Ivanoff Maneff
specialized in France from August 11, 1912 to October 13, 1912
and from September 31, 1913 to September 1, 1914. H. Bouasse
was his director of studies in Toulouse.
As army officer Georges Ivanoff Maneff was in Balkan and
First world war. His valour was decorate with military medals.
He widowed in 1916. For the second time he married after the
First world war.
In the next twenty five years he experienced in Sofia University.
Director of the Institute of Physics professor Alexander Christoff
wanted Georges Iv. Maneff for the assistant position. Faculty
council voted him to assistant in physics.

Assistant Georges Iv. Maneff assumed physical laboratory
in September 1, 1919. One year later he took a part in the
competition to the chair of mathematical physics and he was
elected. King's decree in April 21, 1921 nominated him for
assistant professor. He singed vow's sheet in February 2, 1922.

We imagine assistant professor Maneff with a car, black
eyes and black moustache. In the begining Maneff's family
lived in a house at the Hristo Botev street.
Faculty council promoted him to be professor in
theoretical physics and G. Iv. Maneff was nominated
with Decree in April 27, 1925.
Three professorship competition were organized by the chair in
theoretical physics at the Sofia University.

Georges Iv. Maneff held a first professorship in theoretical
physics in Bulgaria.

Professor Georges Iv. Maneff was dean of the Faculty of
Physics and mathematics (1926-1927 and 1930-1931), rector
of the University (1936-1937) and minister of Education (24
January 1938 - 14 November 1938). He was awarded with
medal "Civil merit degree second" and "Saint Alexander
degree four".
The wife Blaga and the children Stefanka and Angel lived
with professor G. Maneff in private house at Karnegy street
in Sofia. They used telephone at home.
Decree No 7 eliminated professor Georges Iv. Maneff from
the Sofia University in November 28, 1944. He was dismissed
with Decree 21 in January 17, 1945. Three years later he
asked to be restored as a professor in theoretical physics.
Only his employee rights were reconstructed with
Decree 55 in January 15, 1948.
Professor Georges Iv. Maneff had successful research,
professorial and statesman career. He dead in July 15,
1965. We do not know anything about his life during the second
half of 20-th century.
